of International Education

Executive summary
Days
of International Education is a project of
the Educational Advising Center-Skopje. The
project is aimed at undergraduate and
graduate students, university professors,
senior and junior researchers and high
school students from Macedonia with a
purpose of providing sufficient quantity and
quality of information regarding the foreign
educational systems and education related
programs available at the embassies,
resource centers, national and international
organizations dealing with international
education, as well as programs at
international institutions of higher
education. The Days of International
Education expect to serve as a solid basis
for setting up a foundation for potential
cooperation among the target groups, the
opportunity to follow new trends in
international education as well as to
provide current information on educational
opportunities abroad.
Basic goals of the project
-
to provide sufficient quantity and quality
of information regarding the foreign
educational systems and education related
programs available at the embassies,
resource centers, national and international
organizations dealing with international
education, as well as programs at
international institutions of higher
education.

to encourage, reinforce and accelerate the
mutual cooperation among the faculty staff ,
scholars, and researchers from the region
and the worldwide.

to increase the access to
information related to variety of
educational opportunities available:
exchange programs, academic stay abroad
programs, summer schools, financial aid
opportunities, research opportunities etc.

to improve the current situation of the
above mentioned visitor profile through an
increased awareness of: foreign educational
systems, foreign educational curriculum,
levels of education, status of international
students in foreign countries, the
application procedure at institutions of
higher education, financial aid
opportunities, opportunities for research
work, academic stay, internships,
professional practice, exchange programs,
language courses, etc.

lack of quality, up to
date information on current issues in
international education, foreign educational
systems, academic programs, academic stay
abroad programs, research opportunities,
exchange programs, etc.
-
continuous need for the exchange of
knowledge and experience between the
Macedonian and broader international
academic community, as well as inbound and
outbound students of undergraduate and
graduate level, alumni, etc.
Based on
statistics from previous years it can be
concluded that over 50% of the EAC visitors
are high school students interested in
continuing their undergraduate studies
abroad, over 30% of the total number of the
visitors are interested in postgraduate
studies abroad, over 15% (usually
university staff and young researchers) are
interested in work on research projects
abroad and the remaining 15% of the visitors
were interested in information on summer
schools, exchange programs, summer language
courses etc.
Partners proposed to hold presentations at
the event are representatives of the
embassies, liaison offices and information
centers in the country, representatives of
the Ministry of Education, Culture and
Science of Macedonia as well as
international experts from various
international organizations ( ETS, EAIE, IIE,
NAFSA) and institutions of higher education
throughout the world. The target group of
the project is the university staff, student
body, young researchers and professionals of
various fields.
Expected outcomes
-
To stimulate the general awareness of
international educational opportunities
available for Macedonian scholars, junior
and senior researchers, undergraduate and
gradate students and high school students.

To stimulate the exchange of
experience and knowledge so as to motivate
initiatives for implementation of acquired
knowledge to the home country.
-
To provide access to
information related to international
educational programs through increased
access to Internet for all local scholars,
junior and senior researchers, undergraduate
and gradate students and high school
students.

To increase the awareness of
the availability of information related to
international education through contemporary
technology.

Publication of Days of
International Education Review featuring the
presentations of the participating parties
at the event.

We
believe that suchlike cognizance will
provide basis for future multicultural
projects and create synergy with colleagues
in the same field of expertise within the
worldwide.
Project outlook
The project is designed
as 3 days lasting event that is going to
take place in the Skopje at Skopje fair.
The project is designed
in three layers/levels.

STANDS
During
all three/four days there will be separate
stands for each embassy/information
center/
other organization displaying information on
the educational opportunities, education
related programs in the certain country. It
is expected to be one representative at each
stand available to give information to the
visitors all the time.
- PRESENTATIONS
Apart
from the stands there will be regular
agenda/program according to which
representatives from each country will hold
presentations (40 - 60 min. each) on the
educational issues in the certain country
relevant to the objectives of the project.
- PPRESENTATIONS
ON CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
This
year within the regular agenda, every day
there will be presentations on practical
training possibility at the domestic and
foreign company’s. These presentations are
supposed to be held by the representatives
from the companies with a concentration on
practical possibilities, benefits, job
opportunities etc.
PANEL
DISCUSSIONS and WORKSHOPS can be also
organized as long as some of the parties
involved as presenters at this event suggest
it while the preliminary correspondence.

We invite all educational
institutions from Macedonia and abroad
dealing in the field of education to take
part and to participate on this event, one
of its kind in Macedonia.
Also, we would like to
invite all companies to take active part at
the Career days and to present and promote
the possibility for student practice and
future job placement in this sector.
